Anna Rossi jewellery is made of a variety of different materials that may require different care. Depending on the material, each piece may wear differently over time and may/may not be suitable for more sensitive ears and skin. Below is a breakdown of materials to help you make an informed decision when purchasing, ensuring you’re choosing a product that is right for you.

Gold Filled

Gold filled jewellery is when the gold is melted onto the base metal which means the gold coating is generally much thicker than that of plated jewellery. Our filled pieces are water resistant, however, for optimal longevity we still recommend keeping away from perfumes, hairsprays and body lotions. To maintain its lustre, filled jewellery may also be polished on occasion.

Gold Plated

When referring to a piece as ‘Gold Plated’ we mean that the piece is a base metal that has been dipped in gold. Gold plating poses the same lustre as our filled pieces and may be worn in water, but we still do recommend keeping away from perfumes, hairsprays, body lotions and water (salt, chlorine and fresh). Additionally, Anna Rossi plated pieces have been coated with E-Coating to give them optimal longevity and tarnish resistance.

Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel jewellery is strong, sturdy and rust resistant. It is typically more durable than silver or gold, making these pieces suitable for everyday. Stainless steel is hypoallergenic and is used as the base metal for many of our plated and filled pieces. While incredibly durable, we recommend minimising exposure to perfumes, hairsprays, body lotions and water (salt, chlorine and fresh) to ensure optimal longevity.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver is an alloyed form of silver. Fine (pure) Silver is typically too soft to be used on its own and is often alloyed with copper to create sterling silver. Sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper, which is why you may see it referred to as '925 silver'. Sterling silver is hypoallergenic and therefore great for those with sensitive ears and skin. Our sterling silver pieces are water resistant, however, for optimal longevity we still recommend keeping away from perfumes, hairsprays and body lotions.

E-Coating (Tarnish Resistance)

We have E-coating lacquer on our 18k Gold Plated pieces. E-coating is the process of covering an object in a fine layer of lacquer using electric currents. The layer is smooth, even and unnoticeable, helping to protect the jewellery from wear and tear. While e-coating will help extend the lifespan of our pieces, we still encourage you to follow the specific care instructions listed in each description.
